The new kid on the block got the big prize Sunday.

Ryan Myers, a TCU golfer who recently joined Willow Brook, rallied to capture the Men's Club Golf Championship Sunday at Willow Brook Country Club.

After hovering near the lead the first two rounds, Myers closed with a 75 for a 54-hole total of 3-over 216 to top Wes Alexander and Charles Bassett by four strokes.

"The key was I just played solid and avoided mistakes," said Myers, who was an All-America golfer at Odessa College before signing with the Horned Frogs.

Myers said the key was the fourth hole where Alexander, who had consecutive 69s to lead the first two days, had a triple bogey. Myers then drained a birdied putt for a big swing.

"The fourth hole was big momentum changer," said the former Robert E. Lee High School golfer.

Alexander carded an 82 during the final round, while Bassett had a 71.

Kyle DeShazo was fourth at 227 and Don Robert Johnson, who along with Bassett had the best round in the championship division on Sunday with a 71, placed fifth with a 228.

Harry Leatherwood captured the Senior Club Championship and A.J. Triggs added the Super Seniors title to his collection of trophies.

Other flight winners were: Kyle DeShazo (presidents); Donnie Wilson (first flight); David G'sell (second flight); and Alan Wharton (third flight).
