Around East Texas: Cross Brand Church Sets ‘Extreme Race’ Today
The "Extreme Race" sponsored by the Cross Brand Cowboy Church, will take place beginning with a 7:30 a.m. registration and 8:30 a.m. walk-through on Saturday. The race begins at 9 a.m. at the Cross Brand Arena, 11915 Farm-to-Market Road, in Tyler.

There are men, women's and youth divisions said information from Cross Brand, and there will be a break for a church service. A negative Coggins test and dress code are required.   • The Texas Gospel Music Hall of Athens, 6513 Highway 19 South, will celebrate its second anniversary with the "acclaimed Mark Trammel Trio" at 6 p.m. Saturday, said information from the Gospel Music Hall.

  • The Sanctuary Choir of the College Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1314 W. Houston St., will present its annual concert at 3 p.m. Sunday. The choir is directed by Darren Richardson, choirmaster. The pastor of the church is the Rev. Kennedy Young.

  • The People's Missionary Baptist Church, 2908 Bellwood Road, will celebrate its annual "Women's Day" at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Don Hampton will be guest speaker.

  • The Bethlehem Baptist Church of Flint, 21501 County Road 178, will hold its annual "Homecoming and Revival" services beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. James Hawkins of Higher Heights Missionary Baptist Church of Tyler will speak at 3 p.m.

  • Revival services will begin at 7:30 p.m. Monday and run nightly until Wednesday. The speaker will be the Rev. J.A. Ervin of Iron Will Baptist Church of Nacogdoches. The host pastor is the Rev. Edward R. Murrell, II.

  • The Ushers of the West Union Baptist Church of Palestine, 1223 West Lacy St., will hold their annual "Usher's Day" at 11 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. James Horton and members of the Oak Grove Baptist Church will be guests. The theme of the event is "Expressing God's Love by Serving One Another" from Colossians 3:23-24. The Rev. Rodney Angton is the host pastor.
