GOVERNMENT MEETINGS
Thursday , Aug. 14

  • MOUNT PLEASANT -- Northeast Texas Water Planning Group (includes Smith, Wood, Upshur counties), 1 p.m., Mount Pleasant Civic Center.

  • EDOM -- Edom City Council, regular meeting, 7 p.m., Edom Community Center.

  • TYLER -- Firemen's Relief and Retirement Board, 9 a.m., Fire Administration Building, 1718 W. Houston. Review and consider acceptance of the early retirement papers and monthly pension payment amount to Neal Franklin, Tyler Fire Chief.

  • MINEOLA -- Mineola City Council, workshop, 5:30 p.m. Mineola Municipal Complex, 300 Greenville Highway. Discussion of the 2008-09 annual city budget followed by special city council meeting.

  • QUITMAN -- Wood County Commissioners, special session, 11 a.m., Wood County Courthouse. Discuss proposed tax rate and schedule tax rate public hearings.


    • Friday, Aug. 15
  • GILMER -- Upshur County Commissioners, special session, 9 a.m. Upshur County Courthouse, third floor. Adopt budget and tax rate for 2009 fiscal year.

  • GILMER -- Upshur County Commissioners, regular session, 9 a.m. Upshur County Courthouse, third floor. Discuss and take action to grant a tax abatement for Duoline Technologies LP.

  • GILMER -- Upshur County Commissioners, public hearing, 9 a.m. Upshur County Courthouse, third floor. Public hearing concerning establishing a reinvestment zone at the 28 acres located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 271 South and the Southeast corner of Bluebird.


    • Monday, Aug. 18
  • WINONA -- Winona ISD, public hearing on budget and tax rate, 6:30 p.m., Administration Building, 611 Wildcat Drive.


    • TUESDAY, Aug. 19
  • TYLER -- Tyler Planning & Zoning Commission, public hearing on preserving trees on city land, 1:30 p.m., city hall, 212 N. Bonner Ave.


    • GOVERNMENT ON TV
    Tyler City Council TV

    Tyler City Council meetings air at 3 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday on local government access cable channel 3. Tyler Planning and Zoning Commission meetings air at 3 a.m. and 7 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday on the same channel.

    TISD TV

    Tyler ISD Board of Trustees meetings air at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month and are rebroadcast at 2 p.m. the following Saturday and 8 p.m. the following Sunday on TISD TV cable channel 19. Regular board meetings typically take place at the Jim Plyler Instructional Complex, 807 W. Glenwood Blvd.
