TJC Athletes Named Academic All-Americans
Tyler Junior College announced this week that eight members of its athletic teams were named 2008 NJCAA Academic All-Americans.

Six of the eight student-athletes were named Distinguished Academic All-Americans.

The qualifications for the award were to have completed at least three semesters of college work and have participated in at least one season at the varsity level in their sport.

An Academic All-American must have a grade point of 3.6 or higher, and a Distinguished Academic All-American must have a grade point of 3.8 or higher.

"We are so proud of the sophomores that were named NJCAA Academic All-Americans," said Dr. Tim Drain, athletic director. "These student-athletes have been true successes on and off the playing field, and will be great ambassadors of Tyler Junior College at the next level."

Individuals named to the All-Academic Team were:

Kyle Roget -- Football (Distinguished)

Ashley Longoria --

Women's Tennis (Distinguished)

Dalia Serra --

Volleyball (Distinguished)

Erica Weden --

Volleyball (Distinguished)

Yoshica Spears --

Women's Basketball (Distinguished)

Caden Crawford --

Baseball

Mike McCollum --

Baseball

Therese Karlsson --

Women's Tennis (Distinguished)

Sabine football season tickets will go on sale Monday, Aug. 18 for returning season ticket holders.

Tickets will be sold to the public beginning Monday, Aug. 25. This ticket includes seating and parking for all home games for $25. All tickets will be sold in the high school office.
