Showers Could Return Tonight, Monday
Showers and a few thunderstorms were again widespread in the area Saturday morning; and, after a respite Sunday, the activity should return Sunday night and Monday.
Rain fell in Tyler between about 8 a.m. and 9 a.m., and again about an hour later.
In the second shower, rain was heavy over western parts of the city and county.
The city measured 0.28 inch, while Pounds Field measured 1.20 inches.
The showers were the result of another upper air disturbance tracking southeastward in the northwest wind flow aloft on a course roughly parallel with the weak cold front which moved through Friday morning.
By Saturday afternoon, this boundary had retreated northward to Red River, where showers had re-developed.
Another cold front and associated disturbances are likely into the area Sunday night and Monday. Tropical moisture remains ample.
As a consequence, showers and thunderstorms should again be widespread from Sunday night into Monday evening.
The front is probably going to become stationary somewhere south of Tyler, before retreating and dissipating Tuesday.
Thus, showers and thunderstorms could continue into Tuesday, though probably less numerous than Sunday night and Monday.
