Edouard May Bring Showers to East Texas
There is an increasing likelihood for showers and thunderstorms in East Texas Tuesday and Wednesday, particularly south of the Interstate 20 Corridor, thanks to Tropical Storm Edouard.
The intense heat of the past several days should break, as well. In fact, temperatures on Monday ran about 3 degrees lower than those of Sunday, but were still about 3 degrees above normal.
Edouard was expected to come ashore somewhere along the Upper Texas Coast around midday Tuesday, either as a strong tropical storm or minimal hurricane. After coming inland, his course should be along a Columbus-College Station-San Marcus line. The storm will then weaken to a wet low pressure area, and rain itself out over the Hill Country Thursday and Friday.
High readings Monday afternoon ran from the high 90s to near 100, up to 5 degrees lower than on Sunday.
Low temperatures were also cooler, running from near 70 to the high 70s. The same two factors were in play here, as well.
There should be a slight lowering of average temperatures through Wednesday. High readings will come down a couple of degrees each day, and low readings should hold near Monday’s levels.
