Hot Weather Settling In For A Few Days
The heat continues in East Texas, and is likely to persist for the next several days.
There were a few widely scattered showers. The first broken line of showers moved in from the west before dawn, with light showers over northwestern Smith County. These dissipated south of the Interstate 20 corridor after sunrise.
A second area of scattered showers formed Thursday afternoon north of the Interstate 30 corridor, and along the Texas/Louisiana border north of Marshall.
Outside the showers, skies were mostly cloudy around daybreak, and partly cloudy Thursday afternoon.
Temperatures ran near Wednesday’s, and were about 5 degrees above normal. Similar temperatures are likely Friday, with a couple of degrees of additional warming for Saturday and Sunday.
Low readings Thursday morning were from the middle 70s in the east to the lower 80s in the west. These were up to 5 degrees warmer than on Wednesday. Low readings Friday through Sunday mornings should again be in the 70s, with Friday most likely the warmest.
Afternoon high temperatures were close to Wednesday’s, and were from the middle 90s to near 100. Similar readings are likely Friday, with readings mostly above 100 for Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
