Pilot Club Of Tyler To Celebrate 70 Years With ‘A Night In Mexico’
The Pilot Club of Tyler, Inc. will celebrate its 7Oth Birthday on Tuesday with a dinner at The Jalapeno Tree in Tyler.
Members will follow the theme of “A Night in Mexico” by wearing an item made in Mexico while enjoying dinner and birthday cake.
New Officers for 2008-09 were installed June 17 at the Woman’s Building. Presiding over the Club this year will be Linda Bateman, President; Marjoree Glover, President-Elect; Lynne Merryfleld, Vice President; Aliece Keithly, Recording Secretary; Terri Paige, Treasurer; Betty Yockey, Corresponding Secretary; Ann Bennett-Patterson, Director Chairman; and Directors Marjorie Jones, Melanie Roberts, Jean Carter and Shelly Minniti.
Four pilots recently attended the Pilot International Convention at the J.W. Marriott Desert Ridge in Phoenix, Ariz.
Approximately 1500 members of the organization attended representing Canada, Japan, Bahamas and clubs throughout the United States.
A club has been proposed in New Zealand. Local members attending the convention were Linda Bateman, Judy Richter, Betty Yockey and Ann Bennett-Patterson.
Pilot International‘s goal is improving the quality of life in our world through Friendship and Service.
The main focus is helping people affected by brain-related disorders. The local club sponsors the Taste of Tyler each year with the East Texas Restaurant Association and supports Alzheimer’s Alliance, St. Louis School, Association of Retarded Citizens, Tyler Day Nursery, Red Cross and other non profit associations with contributions and volunteer assistance.
