Smith Historical Receives Funds
The Burleson Family Association has donated $200 to the Smith County Historical Association to replace or repair damaged historical markers on what is land once owned by the family, said Louis Burleson, association board member.

The property in western Smith County was a site where soldiers from the Republic of Texas encamped in the 1830s while battling Cherokee tribes, he said.
