Henderson County fire departments were called to the scene of a natural gas well fire on Sunday night located off of Farm-to-Market 753 outside of Athens, said Chris House, acting lieutenant with Athens Fire Department.
No injuries were reported and no one was on scene when authorities arrived.
House said authorities had controlled the fire and were waiting for an unidentified oil company out of Houston to cap the well and cease the continuing well-head fire.
He said residents should be advised of the flammable gas well and several diesel tanks located at the premises.
No evacuation was ordered. However, residents within close proximity have been notified of the situation and will be provided additional evacuation information if necessary, House said.
