Two Tyler Little League Teams Hope To Advance
State championships will be decided in five divisions as the Texas East State Little League Tournament gets under way at Faulkner Park, 410 W. Cumberland Road.

Opening ceremonies are scheduled for 3 p.m. today. Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass is scheduled to welcome the teams and will throw out the first pitch.

The tourney continues through Wednesday or Thursday, depending on the double-elimination format in each division.

Two Rose Capital East teams are competing in the tournament.

The Tyler East National All-Stars are in the Major League Tournament, while the Tyler East National All-Stars are taking part in the 9-10 Year Old Tournament.

Chad Parker is the manager of the Major League team, while Shaun Day is the coach.

Team members are Patrick Mahomes, Brennan McDaniel, Trace Reed, Jack Calhoun, Aston Francis, Jake Parker, Pat Day, Laker Whitaker, Jacob Lundmark, Ryan Rendon, Dallas Stefano and Jaylon Dews.

The winner of the Texas East State title advances to the Southwestern Regional in Waco. The winner of the Southwestern Regional advances to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.

The Tyler team plays Lamar American at 6 p.m. today on Field No. 5. The winner of that game plays either Bellaire or Nederland at 8 p.m. Sunday. The losers of the first games play at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Jason Bramlett is manager of the 9-10 Year Olds, while Keith Batten and Ronnie Florence are coaches.

Team members are Parker Bramlett, Duke Ellis, Phillip Day, Noah Reed, Mason House, Landry Mayo, Call Florence, Tully Greer, Ty Miller, Tanner Batten, Clayton Engel, Ryan Cox and Campbell Miller.

The Tyler squad plays Lamar National at 8 p.m. today on Field No. 7 in an opening round game. The winner of the contest plays either First Colony American or Bridge City at 8 p.m. Sunday. The losers of the first game play at 6 p.m. Sunday.

Other divisions include: 10-11 Year Olds; Junior League and Senior League.
