Tyler Police were dispatched to a burglar alarm at Macy’s, 4700 S. Broadway, at about 6:12 a.m. today.

Officers discovered the door on the southwest side of the building had the plate glass broken out.

Police said the suspect then entered the store and ran immediately to the jewelry counters. He removed the dust curtains for the surface glass and broke out the glass display cases.

The suspect then gathered the jewelry displayed, which is estimated at this time to be valued in excess of $10,000. The suspect then exited the same way he entered.

Police say the suspect was only in the store for approximately two minutes.

Police said if anyone was in the area of the 4700 block of South Broadway between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. today and saw this occur, please contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000.
