July 17: Many Suffering
So many of us are suffering from the high price of gasoline; doing without food and clothes and getting behind on bills because of gas prices.

Thousands of people are losing their jobs and their homes. The stress this is creating makes people sick, and we certainly can't afford doctor or hospital bills. Also I noticed one day the price of a barrel of oil was down, yet the price of gas at the pumps shot up 10 cents.

This is enough to give people a heart attack because of the stress and worry of fluctuating gas prices! We are getting tired of this stock market yo-yo game at the gas pumps every single day! It doesn't make much sense.

And who's fooling whom? We've got enough oil reserves in the Gulf of Mexico to last until year 3000-plus. Which concludes this war is Bush and Cheney's war over oil. And as Laurel and Hardy say: "Here's another fine mess you've gotten us into!"

Here are some Proverbs from the contemporary english version of the Bible. These proverbs are for our leaders in Washington, D.C., and all the rich oil companies ripping us off.

Proverbs 11, 1-4: The Lord hates anyone who cheats, but He likes everyone who is honest. Too much pride can put you to shame. It's wiser to be humble. If you do the right thing, honesty will be your guide. But if you are crooked, you will be trapped by your own dishonesty. When God is angry, money won't help you. Obeying God is the only way to be saved from death.

Proverbs 24, 25, 26 and 18: Sometimes you can become rich by being generous or poor by being greedy. Generosity will be rewarded: Give a cup of water and you will receive a cup of water in return. Charge too much for the gain and you will be cursed; sell it at a fair price and you will be praised. Trust in your wealth and you will be a failure, but God's people will prosper like healthy plants.
