Brook Hill Middle School Cheer Squad Wins Big
The Brook Hill Middle School Cheer Squad and their coach, Suzanne NeJame, went to UCA Cheer Camp at Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana on June 24 through June 27 and scored big.
The squad consisted of 10 girls with hopes of growing in skills, technique and taking cheer to a whole new level and that’s just what they did.
The squad accomplished several goals set by the members prior to camp.
They always kept in mind their 2008 team motto, “to the valiant heart, nothing is impossible” when the days got tough.
The girls jumped, cheered, danced and conditioned their way through many long hours and completed each day with evaluations.
The Brook Hill squad received superior ribbons each night, which led up to the Camp Championships on the final day.
While at camp, there were several other competitions and awards.
Gabby Green (7th grade) won First Place in the ‘Jump Off’ competition. Her toe-touch and pike seemed to hit the heavens.
Macie Ridgley (6th grade) was a finalist in that same competition.
UCA instructors selected Brook Hill’s very own, Timber Garner (8th grade), as an All-Star Cheerleader.
The Middle School Squad competed in the Camp Championships on the last day of camp, sweeping up many trophies and awards.
The squad won First Place in the Home Pom Routine for creativity and a flawless performance.
They also won First Place in the Extreme Routine which consisted of dance, cheer, and stunting.
One UCA instructor stated that the routine the Brook Hill Cheerleaders performed was, “the most unique routine that I’ve seen all summer,” and she has seen over a hundred.
Brook Hill also received a Second Place Trophy for Camp Cheer and another First Place Trophy for rating Superior consistently throughout the week.
To top it all off, The Brook Hill Middle School Cheer Squad has been invited to perform at the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Florida in December 2008.
