Tyler Sending Two Teams To 7-on-7 State Tournament
The 64-team field is set for the 11th Annual FSN Southwest 7-on-7 State Championship. Sponsored by Adidas and Academy Sports & Outdoors, the action is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Friday with pool play at Penberthy Fields on the campus of Texas A&M University.

Tyler is sending two teams to College Station as both John Tyler and Robert E. Lee earned qualification by finishing as runner-ups in respective state qualifying tournaments. Lee accomplished this at A&M Consolidated with JT taking care of business at the Tyler Lee SQT last month.

Along with Lee and JT, other area schools to qualify were Lufkin and Sulphur Springs. Also qualifying from District 11-5A was Mesquite.

The 64 teams will be divided into 16 pools with each engaging in round-robin play. The top two teams from the 16 pools advance to the championship bracket with the remaining 32 going into the consolation bracket. Both brackets will begin play at 8 a.m. Saturday in single elimination play. The consolation final and championship games will take place at 4 and 5 p.m. Saturday at Kyle Field.

There will also be a small-school state championship comprised of 32 teams in Class 3A-A. Area schools Crockett and Spring Hill qualified for the event, scheduled to begin a day earlier on Thursday at 1 p.m. The small-school championship will take place at 1 p.m. Friday at Kyle Field.
