Societies Open Contest To East Texas Poets
The Rusk County Poetry Society of Henderson and the Rose Garden Poetry of Tyler are sponsoring a contest with 38 categories and prize money of $1,480 total, awards chairman Bill G. Anderson said.

Entries are due by Sept. 1, and the entry fee is $8 for entries in any category except the The Harvest Award, where participants can enter up to five poems at $3 each and be in the running for a $100 guaranteed first-place prize, he said.

The presentation of awards is scheduled for 10 a.m. Oct. 11 at Johnny Cace’s Cajun Steak and Seafood Restaurant, Longview.

The contest is open to all aspiring poets in East Texas.
