June 29: Flag Day Success
ROSES: The Mary Tyler Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, would like to thank the many individuals and organizations who contributed to the success of the 2008 Tyler Flag Day celebration.
Roses to Joyce Turner, Danny Mogle and Adam Russell of the Tyler Morning Telegraph for the wonderful Tyler Flag Day publicity. Their patriotic spirit contributed greatly as we celebrated the 231st birthday of the flag of the United States of America.
Thanks to Carol Killingley and The University of Texas at Tyler for providing the perfect setting for our ceremony and to Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass and Heather Newman for the inspirational Flag Day Proclamation.
Our appreciation to Captain William Barron Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, Color Guard Commander Larry Ashburn for his patriotic “Flags of Our Nation” program, SAR Chapter President Stephen Lee and Eagle Scout Clinton Willbanks of Boy Scout Trop 369 for posting the colors.
