Tyler Christian Church, 2916 County Road 1125, will hold a free “Bible Boot Camp,” starting at 9 a.m. today and lasting most of the day. It will continue at 9:30 a.m. until noon on Sunday.

The boot camp will focus on “the structure and organization of Old Testament and New Testament themes,” said information from the church.

Topics include creation, the introduction of sin and death, building a people of faith, Bible characters in the Old Testament and their places and influence in history, institutions and landmarks, the life of Christ by periods, the miracles and parables of Christ and the second coming of Christ, and more.

Carl Teel, an ordained Christian Church minister for 33 years, will be the guest speaker.

Born in Texarkana, Teel graduated from Dallas Christian College with a degree in Bible and ministry. His master’s degree in education is from Texas A&M University.

He founded an accredited Christian school in Texarkana and was its superintendent for 28 years, said information from Tyler Christian. He has had a 25-year ministry in Texarkana at the Eylau Christian Church with subsequent bi-vocational ministries in Nashville, Ark., and currently at First Christian Church of Marshall.

Teel is a former deputy sheriff and adult probation officer in Bowie County. He is serving a third term on the Bowie County Commissioners Court. His ministry positions have included former vice president of Christian Heritage School of Ministry, founder of the Christian Church Evangelistic Network, and author with “articles published in several newspapers and national magazines.”
