Morris Tied For Ninth At Texas Women’s Open
GARLAND — Tyler’s Carrie Morris, a recent graduate of TCU, shot an opening-round 73 at the Texas Women’s Open on Wednesday.
Morris, an amateur, is tied for ninth in the 36-hole event after making one birdie and four bogeys on the 6,104-yard layout at Eastern Hills Country Club.
Mabank professional Adrienne McDonald posted a 72 and is tied for fourth, two shots behind co-leaders Marilyn Hardy of Houston and Jennifer Park of Carrollton — both amateurs.
San Antonio’s Christi Cano is the low pro in the field with a 71.
The stroke play event features a field of 106 top playing professionals and amateurs. The 31 pros in the field are competing for a share of the $10,000 purse, with the pro champion taking home $2,000 for first place.

The top three amateurs will also be recognized and awarded crystal trophies for their outstanding play.
The final round is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. today with tee times off No. 1 and the leaders teeing off at 1:03 p.m.
Admission is free and the public is welcome to attend the final round of the Championship.
