June 23:Government, Industry Must Work Together
The Obama energy plan is no plan.

Where's the plan?

Conservation won't cut it. Al Gore and family installed solar panels, compact fluorescents, signed up for "green energy" and took other measures to reduce their carbon footprint at the Gore mansion.

One year later, the Gore mansion has used 10 percent more energy. Oops.

Levying new taxes on oil won't cut it. Those costs will be passed on to the rest of us. People can only live on so much less by paying more.

Continuing the moratorium on expanded offshore drilling won't cut it. Where domestic offshore oil reserves may exist, only 15 percent of these federal offshore areas are even available for lease.

Ninety-seven percent of those are not leased. The Democrats have said environmental issues override developing these areas. Developing the other 3 percent leased areas may not be viable.

The government needs to work with industry to solve the problem, not lock them out. The choice doesn't have to be drill anywhere or drill nowhere when it comes to producing oil reserves. Extreme environmentalism usually fails.

Norway produces something like 1.2 million barrels per day offshore and is a model of industry and government cooperation, Why not here?

It is Obama who is tied to the failed policies of the past by being tied to the same old democrat environmental theories, economic tax and spend policies, and cut and run defense posture.

Changing the salesman doesn't enhance the party product, particularly with no change in general management, company policy, or the obsolete customer service manual.
