Megan graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William D. Rishel. In high school, she was a member of the high school orchestra and swim team and the Green Acres Baptist Church Praise Alive choir. She also received the Gertrude Windsor Service Award.
