Taylor Burns Acquires 100 Percent Of Burns & Noble, Changes Name
Taylor Burns, a founder of Burns & Noble Commercial Real Estate, announced he purchased 100 percent of the company and changed its name to Burns Commercial Properties LLC.
The company will remain in One American Center, 909 ESE Loop 323, and it will maintain a downtown Tyler office in the Plaza Tower. Terms were undisclosed on the transaction, which was completed on Monday, Burns said.
Burns and his partners had jointly owned the Tyler office and the Colliers Commercial Real Estate office in Dallas. As part of the transaction, Burns sold his interest in the Dallas operation.
He said the division of ownership in the two offices came about because the owners had different goals. He said he believes the Tyler market offers more opportunities for growth than a highly competitive Metroplex market.
"We have been setting new records in sales and leasing volume annually for the past few years," he said. "We are very optimistic about the future of the commercial market in the Tyler area, as it continues to have great growth potential."
Burns & Noble started in 1991 as a two-person operation that managed one 90,000-square-foot office building. It now has a staff of 27, which has management and leasing contracts on more than 2.25 million square feet of retail, office and industrial space in the Tyler market.
The staff includes four sales and leasing agents, five property managers, five building maintenance personnel and a four-person accounting staff.
