Achievements By East Texans Announced
Ouachita awards music scholarships to students who plan to pursue a major in music and are awarded based on a student’s audition. The Ouachita Scholars program seeks to award incoming students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance. The scholarship is renewable for four years and is awarded based on a high level of academic achievement and standardized tests scores.
Miss Johnson was homeschooled and is the daughter of Reverend and Mrs. John Johnson.
Ouachita Baptist University is a church-related, liberal arts university whose aims are to meet the educational needs of students and to prepare them for places of leadership and service. Located in Arkadelphia, Ark., Ouachita offers more than 60 programs of study, with an 11:1 student to faculty ratio.
On Wednesday, May 22, 2008, the students at All Saints Episcopal School left their legacy on the new Brookshire Family Student Athletic Center (SAC). After a blessing, each student at All Saints signed their name on the concrete floor of the new building. It was an exciting day as students look forward to the completion of the SAC in September of this year.
Jordan Alan Payne, a student at Grace Community School, has been accepted to the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science. He is the son of Jerry and Susie Payne of Tyler.
Cassandra Lyons, a Robert E. Lee High School student, has been selected to the National Society of High School Scholars.
She is the daughter of Tammi Roy, the granddaughter of Janie Bircher and sister to Shemeaker Roy.
Membership in NSHSS entitles qualified students to enjoy benefits, including scholarship opportunities, academic competitions, free events, member-only resources, publications, participation in programs offered by educational partners, online forums, personalized recognition items and publicity honors.
Formed in 2002, the NSHSS has more than 300,000 members.
