Junior Master Gardeners Application Deadline Set
Officials with the Smith County Master Gardeners have announced registration will conclude Friday for the fifth annual Junior Master Gardener program.

The SCMG is volunteer organization of the Texas AgriLife Extension Service.

The program is scheduled to begin June 9 and continue for 10 weeks. It is designed for youngsters between 8 and 10 years of age, or grades third through fifth. The meetings are scheduled for 9 a.m.-noon on Monday at the South Campus of Tyler’s First Baptist Church, located at 2813 Farm to Market road in Gresham.

A science-based, hands-on gardening education program, participants will learn about flowers and vegetables in a relaxed, fun environment.

Gardening to attract butterflies and birds will be included in this session. Upon successful completion, children will graduate and receive a certificate from Texas A&M.

Registration is $35, and enrollment is limited.
