Pets Rescued from House Fire
(Staff Photo By Kenneth Dean)
Smith County Fire Marshal Jim Seaton talks to a resident of the home following a fire this morning on FM 14.
Two cats were rescued from a house fire this morning on FM 14, between Robert E. Lee Boulevard and Loop 323, in Tyler, according to Tyler fire officials.

The cats are being treated at local veterinary offices for smoke inhalation, according to officials.

The fire started in a bedroom of the single-wide mobile home, officials said. A 13-year-old girl was home at the time the fire started. She told firefighters she was watching television when she heard a loud pop in the bedroom. She looked inside and the room was full of smoke, she told firefighters. Fire officials believe the television set in the bedroom malfunctioned and exploded, they told the Tyler Paper.
