Sisters In Christ Holding Second Benefit Dinner
Sisters in Christ, a crisis intervention program for women and children, will hold its second yearly benefit dinner at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Potpourri House, 3320 Troup Highway. The theme of the event is “She’s Worth Far More Than Rubies” from Proverbs 31:10.

Speakers include the Rev. Clementine Gulley of St. James CME Church, Fleshia Hartsfield, Carolyn McQueen, a family violence coordinator, Amanda Washington of Greater Shiloh Baptist Church, and Dr. Jacqeline Ray, speaking on “Taking Off The Mask.”

The invocation will be offered by Joyle Rosenberg, president of Sisters in Christ, and the welcome given by Michelle Johnson, founder of Sisters in Christ.

NEW CHURCH
Christ Central Church in Lindale will hold a “grand opening” service for its new sanctuary at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The new facility, that will be officially dedicated June 1, is at 12465 Farm-to-Market Road 16 East. Pastor of the church is the Rev. James Dill. The Rev. Chuck Evans is executive pastor.

The motto of the new church is “Responding to the Heartbeat of Lindale.” Child care and a nursery is available.


WOMEN’S CONFERENCE
The Greater Shiloh Women’s Ministry will hold the “Women of Excellence” conference from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 2525 W. Shaw Ave.

The keynote speaker will be Charlotte Stephenson of Olivet Baptist Church in Austin. Five other speakers are also scheduled.

Registration is $10 for women and $5 for “young ladies” in middle or high school, said information from organizers.
