TJC Sees First Action In Men's Tennis Championship
PLANO — After getting rained out Tuesday, the Tyler Junior College Apaches finally saw their first action Wednesday in the NJCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship.

TJC suffered a rare second-round upset as Flight 1’s Dominic McLuskey was stunned by unseeded Hleb Maslau of Hinds (Miss.), 6-3, 6-4.

McLuskey, the No. 4 seed, won the ITA Rookie of the Year award before the tournament. He is now playing in the consolation draw.

Maslau, the Mississippi state champion, is undefeated in junior college matches this season.

TJC posted wins in Flights 2-5 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Thibaud Aime defeated Ian Esquer of Pima (Ariz.), 6-0, 6-1; Roman Petrunin downed Dawson Dyess of Meridian (Miss.), 6-2, 6-1; Zack Goldsmith beat Pierre LaGrange of Johnson County (Kan.), 6-2, 6-4; and J.J. Haley advanced over Danny Dominguez of New Mexico Military, 6-4, 6-3.
