Art Students Recognized In Juried Exhibition
University of Texas at Tyler art students were recognized in Meadows Gallery Juried Student Exhibition, Ray Sikes, gallery coordinator, announced.
Michael Stephen of Tyler received the Christopher Lyon Memorial Scholarship of $1,000. Named in honor of the late Christopher Lyon, former UT Tyler art faculty, it is awarded to a promising student.
Jessica Riggs of Gladewater received the Dean’s Purchase Award for her piece titled “Kate.” Dr. Alisa White, College of Arts and Sciences dean, chose it for the college’s permanent collection.
Student winners and their art pieces were: Michael Stephen of Tyler for “Up Up and Away,” Jason Tanner Young of Corsicana for “Untitled,” Tracey O’Daniel of Tyler for “Intrepid Rumination,” Abby Hicks of Tyler for “One” and Greg Durant of Jacksonville for “Speak Low.”
Others recognized were: Julie Herrera of Tyler for “Brother Sister,” Kristen Henton of Whitehouse for “Unity,” Mary Celeste Goins of Tyler for “Hungry,” Daise Hoitsma of Tyler for “Me Needs a Muzzle for His Sheep, Keep Moving Raskolnikov, Sometimes it Does Fit” and John Bradley of Tyler for “Heavy Load #1.”
