May 13: Energy Production
Congressman Louie Gohmert recently issued a statement about high gas prices and inaction of the Democratic controlled Congress that is dead-on accurate.
I would love to see Mr. Gohmert lead a charge of all Republican congressional representatives to demand action be taken by the Democratic leadership.
Not only has nothing been done to ease the pain at the pump (a gallon of gas was $2.17 when Democrats took control) but Democrats have voted four times to raise energy taxes while obstructing any efforts to suspend the federal tax on gasoline.
Rep. Gohmert stated, "It appears part of the elevated gas prices come from speculation in the commodities markets. If Speaker Pelosi and Senate Leader Reid were to announce they were going to allow a vote on a Republican bill to drill in ANWR or the Outer Continental Shelf, that alone would cause investor speculation to drive down the price of gas by probably 20 percent or more."
Americans are going to have to wake up and demand we support our country by expanding our energy with more drilling and more nuclear power. Anyone with Google can go back and do a search on "global warming/gas prices" and realize Democrats (like Al Gore) have long desired and supported high energy prices so we will be forced to develop alternative energy.
Just this March, John Dingle, Democrat who chairs the Committee on Energy proposed a 50-cent tax increase on gas with his reasoning being it would force Americans to use less gas.
So instead of solving the problem by meeting demand on our own soil, Democrats and Dingle want to artificially inflate prices further. Idiocy!
Greatly expanding our exploration in our own country also would create thousands of good high paying jobs at a time when more and more companies are going offshore with manufacturing jobs.
Congress needs to act immediately to increase energy production in our own country.
