May 13: Disconnect
Two articles juxtaposed on page 5B in the May 5 Tyler Paper clearly show the administration's disconnect between reality and fantasy in Baghdad.

One tells of the Iraq First Lady's narrow escape from death by IUD on her way to Bagdad's National Theater. That's reality. Directly below is the artist's rendering of a proposed $5 billion international village with a shopping center, luxury hotels and two embassies in the green zone.

That's fantasy. If, after five years, we cannot stop incoming rocket and mortar rounds in the green zone; if we cannot even provide basic utilities, what are chances of building a desert garden vacation spot anytime soon? How about 100 years? Try 1,000. The overwhelming majority of Americans know one fact the government is oblivious to, it's time for change of direction.
