Tyler Junior College to Dedicate Garden Friday
Tyler Junior College will dedicate its James F. and Virginia Hawkins Gatewood Garden, located behind Jenkins Hall, at 3 p.m. Friday, the college said.
The event will include the unveiling of a sculpture in the garden by Whitehouse artists Cherry and Jim Day.
The garden and sculpture are funded by an anonymous contributor.
The garden is part of a project to develop seven gardens on the main campus at a cost of $3.8 million, the college said.
This is the second garden project. The first project, expansion of Brundrett Azalea Garden, was dedicated in September.
The TJC Botanical Gardens project was designed by landscape architect, Naud Burnett, whose firm is in Dallas.
He is a chief consultant for the Dallas Arboretum and designed its Trammell Crow Visitor Education Pavilion.
