NEW ASSIGNMENT
The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler announced Laurie Macleod, a registered nurse, was named director of clinical research.

Ms. Macleod came to UTHSCT from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, where she was director of the Specialty Advanced Interdisciplinary Training Program in the Department of Clinical Services. While there, she developed the SAINT program to offer training, education, mentorship and interdisciplinary networking to all non-faculty personnel involved in the clinical research process.

Prior to joining UT Southwestern in 2001, she was clinical research coordinator for the Molecular Genetics Program at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas.


ACHIEVEMENTS
Classic Toyota received Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. Inc.'s President's Award for outstanding sales and service, the company announced.

This is the fourth time the dealership has received the award. The President's Award pays homage to Toyota dealerships throughout the country that achieve high standards of performance in all facets of the automotive dealer profession. TMS has recognized dealers with the award annually since 1986.


PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Former Tylerite Gary G. LaFrance, a professional engineer, will present a paper, "GPR 3D Model for Field Use," at the 12th International Conference on ground-penetrating radar June 16-19 in Birmingham, UK. LaFrance is a specialist in three-dimensional analysis of GPR data for field and post-processing applications.

He is a civil engineering consultant and software developer in Harrisburg, Pa., and previously operated a Tyler-based consulting engineering firm for 14 years, working throughout East Texas at power plants, lignite mines and reservoirs.

LaFrance was also employed for three years with East Texas Testing Laboratory, now ETTL Engineers & Consultants Inc.


NEW MEMBERS

PLANNER
Thursday

Chris Hill, owner and operator of Personality Fit, will present "Wellness in the Workplace," and address developing a wellness program during a meeting of the East Texas Human Resources Association, 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. at the East Texas Workforce Center. Cost is $12 for ETHRA members, students and guests, and the price includes lunch.
