Update: Barbara Bass Holds Onto Lead In Tyler Mayor's Race
New updates to city election vote totals show Barbara Bass is holding onto her lead in the race for Tyler mayor.

Right now, Ms. Bass has 1,411 votes, or 60.27 percent of the total. Laura Corbett trails behind with 913 votes, or 39 percent. Keith Pyron is far behind with 17 votes, or 0.73 percent.

“I’m just very blessed,” said Ms. Bass. “We’ve run a good, straightforward campaign, and I have a wonderful group of volunteers who have sacrificed so much. I feel blessed.”

Ms. Corbett is remaining hopeful that she will be able to overcome the nearly 500-vote deficit.

“All along, we did not expect to win early voting, although we were hoping the totals would be closer,” Ms. Corbett said. “We’re still optimistic.

The total number of votes counted so far in the mayor’s race is 2,341.

The final vote count isn’t expected to be complete for another couple of hours, city officials say. The numbers above only reflect the votes cast during the early voting period. They are not final or conclusive.
