May 7: Monetary Incentives Attract Businesses
Ms. Bass has said she would use, with the approval of council (not a committee of citizens, as reported in the paper) some, not, a large portion of the city surplus money to boost economic development, while Ms. Corbett believes the city can bring in jobs without using tax dollars as a monetary incentive for those companies to move to Tyler.

Ms. Corbett believes this is a major difference between the two candidates. I agree, this a major difference. I respectfully doubt whether Ms. Corbett seriously thinks there is a need for these jobs in Tyler and has given it much thought. If so, why have we not seen her step-by-step idea of accomplishing job creation or attraction of businesses to Tyler?

Does she have methods Tom Mullins and the Economic Development Board, or for that matter, the mayor and city council have yet to know about / find / uncover / discover?

Does Ms. Corbett understand that in the year 2008, monetary (dollar) incentives are the primary methods for attracting businesses? Clearly, Ms Bass does have this understanding.
