May 7: Unique Qualities
I am writing in support of Laura Corbett for mayor. I am a professional volunteer and have had the opportunity to know Laura and serve on the half-cent tax board with her.
I can personally vouch for her commitment to service, business judgment and her ability to lead this city to even greater heights. One of her unique qualities is she listens and evaluates situations before she renders a decision.
She has been a great leader on the half-cent tax board, not only because she helped pass this important piece of legislation, but because she truly cares about the city and is determined to keep it financially sound.
The fact five city council members endorsed Laura means the leaders all of us chose as council people to represent us in our respective districts realize proven leadership is essential to the continued growth of Tyler. Laura is a person they know and respect who will come to the council with a tremendous amount of proven leadership. She already knows how to work with the city council because she has served as a council woman. We need an experienced leader who brings with her an excellent understanding of city government. She will hit the ground running because she is a veteran city leader who has served on commissions and boards in various positions.
I knew Laura was the right choice for mayor when she offered to meet with council members to tour their districts in an effort to understand what their constituents' needs are and to pledge support to address issues that concern all citizens in Tyler and all areas of the city.
Tyler is moving forward on improving the quality of life for all citizens. This effort should be continued. Electing Laura Corbett as mayor will ensure these efforts are continued.
I am honored to endorse Laura Corbett as the next mayor of Tyler. After all, experience really does count!
