May 4: Thanks For Generosity
ROSES: Express my sincere gratitude to everyone in the Tyler community who gave to the Tyler Firefighters as they "Filled-the-Boot" for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
These firefighters were stationed throughout town at Wal-Mart and Brookshire's and they collected more than $15,500, an increase from last year's event and another East Texas record breaking Fill-the-Boot.
The money raised will help MDA of East Texas provide services including support groups, treatments at MDA clinics, including UT Health Center in Tyler, summer camps, assistance in buying equipment such as wheelchairs and leg braces, and will go to fund the ongoing research to find a cure.
I would like to thank all of the Tyler Firefighters who participated in Fill-the-Boot, as well as each location that made this event such a huge success. Your hard work is truly making a difference in the lives of the 400 families in East Texas affected by muscular dystrophy.
Again, I give a heartfelt thanks to the City of Tyler from MDA and all of the people we serve in the East Texas area.
