May 4: Dangerous Dogs
REPLY: In answer to Don Hopper of Flint. I live in Frankston and they let them not only keep but have a regular "pit bull kennel" in their back yard. The last count was about "10" and two pens for breeding. To keep the trash and stink out as best I can, I have to have an eight-foot privacy fence put up at the back of my yard.
One of the momma dogs got loose in their yard and killed the other momma dog. Just think if that had been one of their children.
I have talked to the city council, police chief, mayor and anyone who will listen, but I am told there are no laws that can stop this as long as the dogs are on a chain of 10-feet, have a house to get in out of the weather, and they are fed and watered every few days.
Mr. Hopper is right. It makes some guys feel like big people to have pit bulls they can train to fight. Be glad you live in Flint and not here.
