Seeber Community Honorary Chairman Of Komen Tyler Race
The Komen Tyler Race for the Cure has been around for 10 years - almost as long as Mayor Joey Seeber has been in office.
This year the mayor was asked to serve as the community honorary Chairman and the mayor, who will help start the race and participate in the awards ceremony, says he is honored to be asked to help with the Race.
"There is no question that our local organization has raised the profile and awareness of this cause,'' the mayor said, when asked how the race has impacted Tyler.
"I am happy to do anything I can to assist the local Komen affiliate in the fight to reduce the incidence and ideally eventually eliminate breast cancer.
"We all have mothers or spouses or friends who have battled this, and we understand the impact it has on our families and our lives."
Race chairs Connie Greenberg and Kristin Goodman say they are thankful for the support of the local community and its officials. "Having our mayor involved in the race this year just makes the celebration of 10 years of successful races more meaningful, and we appreciate his commitment to a better quality of life in East Texas."
