NEW ASSIGNMENT
East Texas Medical Center announced Dr. James Turlington joined ETMC First Physicians.
Dr. Turlington will join Dr. Andrew Roberts and the ETMC Urology Institute of Tyler. Dr. Turlington is a board-certified urologist and is retired from the U.S. Air Force, where he attained the rank of brigadier general and practiced medicine around the world.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Robert S. Davis with Flowers Davis PLLC was elected to membership in the Fellows of the Texas Bar Foundation, the foundation announced.
Fellows are selected for their professional achievements and commitment to the improvement of the justice system in Texas. Selection is restricted to members of the State Bar of Texas. The foundation is the largest charitably funded bar foundation in the country.

EMORY — Larry Reed, senior vice president of Austin Bank, was honored by the Texas Bankers Association for dedication and commitment to Texas agriculture and the banking industry.
Bruce Bynum, senior vice president at Legend Bank in Bowie and chairman of the association’s Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, presented Reed with a plaque last week for his achievements. Reed has shown dedication to the committee for more than 10 years, serving as committee chairman in 2003. He has been with Austin Bank more than 10 years. Prior to that, he spent more than 20 years with Farm Credit Bank.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Marina Schroeder of the Tyler branch of Smith Barney was designated the professional title of Investment Management Specialist by Consulting Group, the managed money unit of Citi’s Smith Barney division.
The designation was in recognition for Ms. Schroeder’s achievements as a financial adviser within the firm’s wealth management group. She has about 14 years in the financial services industry, having joined Smith Barney in 2000 as first vice president of wealth management.

All senior level managers attended the workshop lead by Celia Flowers, owner and attorney at law. It included training on Closing Site, an online transaction management tool that gives lenders and Realtors 24-hour access to their files, a feature that company officials say is unique to it.
Phyllis J. Mulder, senior vice president and Texas general counsel for Alliant National Title Insurance Co., gave a presentation on new rules and forms for 2008.
Also, East Texas Title Co. announced that it moved its Tyler location to the Woodgate II Building, 1021 ESE Loop 323, Suite 400.

Les Jeske, project manager and hydrogeologist for Solutient GeoSciences Inc., attended a two-day storm water management short course designed to provide training to environmental consultants, regulators and industrial and municipal environmental managers on requirements for storm water permitting at industrial and construction sites.

The Texas Engineering Extension Service presented the course in Bryan. In addition, attendees were instructed on how to develop storm water pollution prevention plants and the requirements of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality construction permit from Feb. 15, 2008.

Krista Brock, owner of First Fidelity Financial Group of Tyler, announced her company opened April 1 at 1901 Rickety Lane, Suite 110.

Ms. Brock said the group’s mission is to provide customers with the highest possible yield through an account that provides peace of mind.
