May 3: Recommendation
I would like to recommend Dr. Charles Alworth for re-election to the Tyler City Council from District 6.
Alworth has served on the Tyler city council successfully the past several years. Having served as a city councilman and mayor of Tyler in the past myself, I am acquainted with what is required of a city councilman to serve effectively in the best interest of Tyler. It is unusual to have a person as highly qualified as Alworth to be available for this type of assignment.
Alworth is the principal owner of a law firm and a consulting engineering firm. He not only has the experience as a Tyler city councilman, but has business experience in his own law firm and engineering firm. He has the additional benefit of a Doctor of Jurisprudence (Laws) degree, an additional PHD, and a Master's Degree in electrical engineering. All degrees are from top universities in the United States. Alworth has taught engineering in several major universities (University of Oklahoma, The University of Texas at Tyler and Texas A&M University). He has been a consultant to major oil companies and has received many honors and awards from professional societies. He is very practical and uses common sense in his approach to problems. In addition to all of his qualifications for service to the city, he has been active in civic affairs.
We are very fortunate to have a person of the caliber of Alworth to be available to serve the city in a nonpaying job. I enthusiastically recommend Alworth for re-election to the Tyler city council from District 6.
