Making a "who to vote for" decision about mayoral candidates is a personal one, and it can be difficult if you don't know the candidates personally.

I have known Barbara Bass many years and hope my personal, positive evaluation of Barbara will help others make a decision to vote for her in the May 10 election.

Several years ago I invited Barbara to speak to a group of college students. You can tell a great deal about a person by what they tell young people. She spoke to them with sincere guidance and straightforward advice. They listened carefully and many told me afterwards she was the most honest lecturer they had experienced.

That's the way she operates in all her endeavors - with sincerity, solid-based guidance and informed advice. She is a leader who will listen to opinions of others and make sound, fair decisions.

Another way to know a person is through their proven capabilities. Barbara as a certified public accountant will be a responsible steward of the city's budget. Without question, she will be an advocate for economic development for our city and bring more jobs to our region.

Most of all I think you can tell the most about a person by what kind of neighbor they are. Barbara and her husband have been neighbors to my parents more than 25 years. They have looked after and visited my folks over the years, visiting out in the yard or vegetable garden. They prayed for us when my father was ill with brain cancer and grieved with my Mom and our family after his death.

The city of Tyler wants a mayor who is a good neighbor and I ask you to vote for Barbara Bass. She's a good one.
