April 27: Corbett Offers Business Approach
I am supporting former city council member Laura Corbett for mayor of Tyler. Laura believes in a business approach to city government. I think our city has great potential, but we need a strong leader with experience to continue the momentum and oversee the entire city's growth.
Laura served six years on the Tyler City Council, serving as mayor pro tem a year. She currently is in her fourth year as a member of the Half Cent Sales Tax board.
Laura's priorities include traffic issues, road repair, code enforcement, protection of historic districts and revitalizing downtown. She strongly believes we are one Tyler and we need to look out for the interest of all our citizens. She also believes it is important to market the city for economic growth and work with Tyler Independent School District, Tyler Junior College and Smith County to save taxpayers money.
Laura has chaired the Tyler Convention and Visitor's Board and served as a member of the Greater Tyler Association of Realtors. She is a member of the Junior League of Tyler, the University of Texas at Tyler Patriots, and a past board member with the Smith County Habitat for Humanity. She also has served on boards of Heart of Tyler Main Street and Festival on the Square. She has volunteered for the Cattle Baron's Gala and Texas Rose Festival.
Laura Corbett has the experience and commitment we need in a mayor.
