April 26: Common Language
It is because of our love and respect for fellow man, the human, that the U.S.A. has continued to permit foreigners to join, and remain.
I am concerned that too many immigrants do not learn to speak our language, aren't you? Everyone needs to willingly assimilate into this society and thereby benefit all people.
We are told 21.3 million residents speak only "limited English;" this is dangerous because nothing is more critical to our national unity than our common language.
Under Executive Order 13166, signed by Democrat President Bill Clinton, the Federal government has been using tax dollars to actively promote multilingualism. Currently voting ballots are printed in 28 languages. Driver's license exams are printed in 43 languages, and Census instruction guides are printed in 50 languages. This requires government agencies and all organizations receiving federal funds to provide official services and documents in multiple languages on demand; no questions asked. We soon may resemble the Tower of Babel.
Hospitals like the Alameda County Medical Center in California employ 18 interpreters, with an additional 19 on call. At $18 to $20 an hour, try to imagine.
Since the birth of our nation Americans have been united under one language. If newcomers want to join they should learn our line of communication. Order 13166 is bad for immigrants, bad for taxpayers, bad for America.
Official English laws have been passed in 20 states. New Republican officeholders must help us cancel that executive order (13166).
Many on the left accuse those of us who believe English should be our National Language of prejudice or, worse, racism.
