All Saints Episcopal School Odyssey Of The Mind Competition Continues

All Saints Episcopal School is participating for the second year in the Odyssey of the Mind competition.

According to its Web site, "Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Kids apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.

"They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the United States and from about 25 other countries participate in the program."

On March 1, All Saints sent four teams to compete in the North Texas Regional Odyssey of the Mind tournament. Teams from all of north Texas competed, but All Saints was the only school from Tyler that competed.

A fifth team made up of second-graders also went to participate at the primary level, which includes kindergarten through second grade.

Of the four teams that competed, two came in first place and two came in second place, and all advanced to the Texas State Odyssey of the Mind tournament in Houston on April 5.

Two teams from All Saints will represent all of North and East Texas at the World Finals at the University of Maryland in College Park in May.
