Chapel Hill High Student Honored By Society Of Scholars
NEW CHAPEL HILL - The National Society of High School Scholars selected Chapel Hill High School student Elizabeth McCann for membership.

The society recognizes top scholars and invites those students who have achieved superior academic excellence.

Miss McCann now will be eligible for scholarship opportunities, academic competitions, free events, member-only resources, publications, participation in programs offered by educational partners, online forums, personalized recognition items and publicity honors.


WCEC Distributes $10,000 For High School Scholarships
QUITMAN - A panel of judges recently awarded $10,000 in scholarships as part of Wood County Electric Cooperative's Power My World program.

Each student will receive a $1,000 scholarship made possible by unclaimed capital credit payments returned to WCEC by the state.

Ten students were chosen from 43 applicants. They are: Laura Delilah Blalock, Harmony High School; Sammie Hanks, Mt. Vernon High School; Emily Harwell, Van High School; Anthony Hill, Grand Saline High School; Britney Hudgins, Mineola High School; Andrew Mikel Ramirez, Alba-Golden High School; Thomas Blaine Shackelford, Quitman High School; Cristen J. Smith, Mineola High School; Lindsey Weems, Quitman High School; and Autumn Paige Wood, Mineola High School.


Robert E. Lee Senior To Attend Annapolis After Graduation
TYLER - Robert E. Lee High School senior Sarah Pritchard received an appointment to attend the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and will report in July.

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn nominated Miss Pritchard in January. Typically, approximately 4,000 candidates receive nominations and 1,500 appointments are given.

Miss Pritchard is the daughter of Daryl and Christine Pritchard and Beth Marshall and Anthony Wilgus.


Brook Hill School Fine Arts Week Exhibits Youths' Talent
BULLARD - During a recent Fine Arts Week at the Brook Hill Lower School, every student exhibited in the juried show. All-school winners also were announced.

Fifth-grader Nikki Evans won Best of Show; fourth-grader Charlie Niles won second place all around; second-grader Campbell Fletcher won third place all around; fifth-grader Matthew Kimball, second-grader Ashlee Register and first-grader Jaden Maresch won judges choice awards; and Anna Kitt won the Award of Merit.

The week also featured the upper school Choir, middle school orchestra and upper school drama.
