Drillers Tap Cherokee County For Two More Wells

Cherokee County
J-O-B Operating will drill the BM Smith Gas Unit Well No. 3 in the Percy Wheeler (Rodessa) Field to a depth of 9,800 feet. This well will lie in the Blanton, J Survey, A-93 and may also be drilled in the Percy Wheeler (Travis Peak) Field.
In a lease 6.4 miles northwest of Wells in the Doyle Creek (Travis Peak) Field, the Copeland Well No.1 will be drilled by XTO Energy. This well is 13,000 feet in the Garrett, S Survey, A-302 and may also be drilled in the Doyle Creek (Pettit) Field.
Freestone County
XTO Energy will drill the Buffalo Creek Gas Unit Well No. 5 in the Bear Grass (Cotton Valley Consolidated) Field to a depth of 15,000 feet. It is in the Peck, N Survey, A-820 two miles northeast of Donie. This well may also be drilled in the Bear Grass (Travis Peak) Field or the Bear Grass (Pettit) Field.
O'Ryan Oil & Gas will drill the Carpenter Well No. 1 and the Holleman Well No. 1 in the Nan-Su-Gail (Cotton Valley Consolidated) Field. The Carpenter Well No. 1 is 12.2 miles northeast of Fairfield in the Walker, M Survey, A-663. The Holleman Well No. 1 is 11.7 miles northeast of Fairfield in the Henry W. Jr. Survey, A-275. These wells will hit 13,000 feet and may also be drilled in a wildcat field.
XTO Energy will drill the Clarke Gas Unit WellS No. 24, No. 25 and No. 29 in the Teague (Cotton Valley-Bossier Consolidated) Field. No. 24 is 6.2 miles southeast of Teague and will hit 12,980 feet. No. 25 is 6.2 miles southeast of Teague and will hit 12,970 feet. No. 29 is 5.8 miles east of Teague and will hit 12,830 feet. The wells will lie in the McAnnulty, J Survey, A-409.
The Turner "A" Well No. 10 will be drilled 3.5 miles southwest of Dew in the Dew (Cotton Valley Consolidated) Field to a depth of 15,000 feet by Anadarko Petroleum in the Cook, HC Survey, A-118.
Gregg County
In a lease four miles east of Kilgore in the Danville (Travis Peak-Cotton Valley Consolidated) Field, the Flanagan Well No. 8 will be drilled by Samson Lone Star. This well will hit at 13,000 feet in the Edwards, H Survey, A-64 and may also be drilled in a wildcat field.
TXOK Texas Energy Resources will drill the Harris, T.B. Well No. 12 to a depth of 11,300 feet in the White Oak (Cotton Valley Sand) Field. It is in city limits of White Oak in the Castleberry, WH Survey, A-38.
Harrison County
NEG Operating will drill the Bonner Gas Unit Well No. 3 in a wildcat field, the Mattie Dixon Gas Unit Well No. 12 in the Oak Hill (Cotton Valley) Field, the Ava Porter Gas Unit Well No. 2 in the Oak Hill (Cotton Valley) Field and the Carolyn Bell Gas Unit No. 1 Well No. 11 in the Oak Hill (Cotton Valley) Field. The No. 3 is 4.2 miles southeast of Hallsville in the Blankenship, L B Survey, A-71. This well may also be drilled in the Oak Hill (Cotton Valley) Field. The No. 12 is five miles south of Hallsville in the Real, A Survey, A-594. This well may also be drilled in a wildcat field. The No. 2 is 2.4 miles southeast of Hallsville in the Stanfield, WWO Survey, A-634. It may also be drilled in a wildcat field. The No. 11 is 6.5 miles southeast of Hallsville in the Watson, W Survey, A-748. It may also be drilled in a wildcat field. These wells will bottom at 12,000 feet.
In a lease 2.4 miles southwest of Hallsville in the Oak Hill (Cotton Valley) Field, the Cannon Gas Unit Well No.1 will be drilled by Craton Energy Holdings. This well will hit 11,500 feet in the Hooper, R Survey, A-304.
The Abney, Zach Unit Well No. 3H will be drilled 6.2 miles west of Waskom in the Waskom (Cotton Valley) Field by Devon Energy to 13,000 feet in the Brookfield, WC Survey, A-2.
Samson Lone Star will drill the Taylor Estate Well No. 4H in the Waskom (Cotton Valley) Field. The well is 5.5 miles northwest of Waskom with a depth of 12,000 feet in the Britt, J M Survey, A-846. This well may also be drilled in a wildcat field.
The Jones, Jerry Well No. 10 and Well No. 11 will be drilled in the Carthage, North (Cotton Valley) Field by Penn Virginia Oil & Gas. The No. 10 well is 13.2 miles northeast of Marshall. The No. 11 is 13 miles northeast of Marshall. Both wells will lie in the Ward, WRD Survey, A-745 and will hit 13,000 feet.
Enervest Operating will drill the Resch Gas Unit Well No. 12 in a wildcat field. This well is 4.5 miles southwest of Hallsville in the Berry, M Survey, A-75. Depth will be 11,500 feet and may also be drilled in the Oak Hill (Cotton Valley) Field.
In a lease 11 miles southeast of Jefferson, in the Carthage, North (Cotton Valley) Field, the Stephens No. 1 Unit Well No. 2 will be drilled by Forest Oil Corp to 11,500 feet in the Ward, WRD Survey, A-745.
Comstock Oil & Gas will drill the Bogue "A" Well No. 4H, 1.1 miles east of Crossroads in the Waskom (Cotton Valley) Field. It will hit 9,630 feet in the Wallace, L Survey, A-744.
Sandridge Exploration and Production will drill the Magrill in the Oak Hill (Cotton Valley) Field. This well is two miles northeast of Hallsville in the Holbert, J Survey, A-305 and will hit 12,000 feet. It may also be drilled in a wildcat field.
Hopkins County
Atoms Energy Corp., Mid-Tex Div. will drill the G.B. 038-12 Well No. 12 one mile northwest of Weaver in a wildcat field to a depth of 300 feet in the Frank, S/Clark, A W Survey, A-1253.
Leon County
In a lease 5.3 miles southwest of Jewett, in the Bear Grass (Pettit) Field, the Starrett Branch Gas Unit Well No. 3 will be drilled by XTO Energy. It will hit 17,000 feet in the Myers, J Survey, A-542. It may also be drilled in the Bear Grass (Travis Peak) Field or the Bear Grass (Cotton Valley Consolidated) Field.
Marathon Oil Co. will drill the Nash Well No. 3 to 17,000 feet 9.5 miles west of Jewett in the Kenwood (Cotton Valley Lime) Field in the De La Concepcion Marquez, M Survey, A-12. It may also be drilled in a wildcat field.
Limestone County
In a lease 13.2 miles northwest of Jewett in the Freestone (Cotton Valley-Bossier Consolidated) Field, the Doss Gas Unit Well No. 23 will be drilled by O'Benco. The well will hit 13,700 feet in the Chavert, JL Survey, A-4. It may also be drilled in the Navasota (Pettit) Field, a wildcat field or the Freestone (Travis Peak) Field.
O'Benco will drill the Bobby Reed Gas Unit Well No. 24 to 13,700 feet. It is 13.3 miles northwest of Jewett in the Freestone (Cotton Valley-Bossier Consolidated) Field in the Chavert, JL Survey, A-4. This well may also be drilled in the Freestone (Travis Peak) Field, the Navasota (Pettit) Field or a wildcat field.
Nacogdoches County
The Naconiche Creek (Rodessa-Travis Peak Consolidated) Field will see the Strong Gas Unit Well No. 14 drilled by Chesapeake Operating. The well is 2.7 miles northwest of Mayo in the Walker, WC Survey, A-596 and will hit 14,000 feet. It may also be drilled in a wildcat field or the Naconiche Creek (Cotton Valley) Field.
Exxon Mobil Corp. will drill the Trawick Gas Unit 22 Well No. 10 in the Trawick (Travis Peak) Field to 9,800 feet in the Pye, S Survey, A-453. It may also be drilled in the Trawick (Pettit) Field. Location will be 4.6 miles northeast of Cushing.
The B. M. Land Gas Unit Well No. 7 will be drilled 2.1 miles northwest of Mayo in the Naconiche Creek (Cotton Valley) Field. This well will hit 12,000 feet in the Walker, WC Survey, A-596. It may also be drilled in a wildcat field or the Naconiche Creek (Rodessa-Travis Peak Consolidated) Field.
In a lease 2.8 miles southwest of Martinsville, in the Martinsville (Travis Peak) Field, the Cardinals Gas Unit Well No. 6 will be drilled by Fossil Resources to 12,500 feet in the Flores, Hrs. V. Survey, A-30 and may also be drilled in a wildcat field.
St. Mary Land & Exploration will drill the Ramos Well No.1H to 10,000 feet 12.4 miles west of Lufkin in the Loco Bayou (James Lime) Field in the Halls, BM Survey, A-269.
Panola County
The Harris Well No. 6 and the Edens Well No.19 will be drilled to a depth of 11,250 feet by Chinn Exploration in the Carthage (Cotton Valley) Field. The No. 6 well is 9.4 miles west of Carthage in the Wynn, JM Survey, A-730. The No. 19 well is 9.3 miles west of Carthage in the Smith, E Survey, A-601.
Anadarko E&P will drill the CGU 3 Well No. 19 and the Boren Gas Unit 1 Well No. 8H to a depth of 12,000 feet in the Carthage (Cotton Valley) Field. The No. 19 is 2.2 miles northwest of Carthage in the Moorman, A Survey, A-427. The No. 8H well is 7.9 miles southeast of Carthage in the Caraway, JW Survey, A-978.
In a lease 11 miles southwest of Carthage, in a wildcat field, the Smith Well No. 2 will be drilled by M.E. Operating & Services. This well will hit 10,500 feet in the Coughran, J Survey, A-121. It may also be drilled in the J.G.S. (Pettit, Lower) Field, the Carthage, South (Travis Peak) Field, the J.G.S. (Rodessa-C-) Field, the Carthage, Southwest (Pettit) Field, the J.G.S. (Travis Peak-A-S) Field, the Carthage, Southwest (Travis Peak) Field or the Carthage, South (Cotton Valley) Field.
Chevron U.S.A. Inc. will drill the Werner-Goodson Unit Well No. 6 in the Carthage (Travis Peak) Field. This well is 19.6 miles east of Carthage in the Stevens, CR Survey, A-633. This well will bottom at 10,500 feet.
Robertson County
The Giddings (Austin Chalk-3) Field will see the Muse-Fazzino Unit Well No. 3 drilled by Williams, Clayton Energy. This well is 3.2 miles southwest of Hearne in the Nixon, GA Survey, A-31. Total depth will be 6,900 feet.
XTO Energy will drill the Walston Gas Unit Well No. 1 and the Chamberlain Gas Unit No. 1 Well No. 1 in a wildcat field. The Walston Gas Unit Well No. 1 is 4.3 miles northeast of Calvert and will hit 13,800 feet. The Chamberlain Gas Unit No. 1 Well No. 1 is 4.1 miles northeast of Calvert and will hit 13,600 feet. Both wells will lie in the Fullerton, H Jr. Survey, A-143.
O'Benco Inc. will drill the Koehler Gas Unit Well No. 1 in the Bald Prairie (Cotton Valley Consolidated) Field. This well is 13.8 miles northwest of Franklin in the Campbell, H Survey, A-120 and will hit 12,800 feet. It may also be drilled in a wildcat field.
Eagle Oil & Gas will drill the TXU North Well No. 2 in a lease 8.5 miles southeast of Kosse in the Bald Prairie (Cotton Valley Consolidated) Field. It will hit 13,000 feet in the Thornton, HF Survey, A-353 and may also be drilled in a wildcat field.
A wildcat field will see the Hurley Well No. 1A drilled by Rippy Oil. The well is 12.5 miles northeast of Franklin in the Hill, A Survey, A-176 and will hit 19,000 feet. This well may also be drilled in the Bohlwhite (Cotton Valley Lime) Field.
XTO Energy will drill the Perry Gas Unit Well No. 1 is 3.4 miles northeast of Calvert in the Bald Prairie (Cotton Valley Consolidated) Field to 13,425 feet. It is in the Fullerton, H Survey, A-14 and may also be drilled in a wildcat field.
Rusk County
In a lease 1.3 miles northwest of Minden, in the Brachfield, Southeast (Cotton Valley) Field, the Tufco Gas Unit 1 Well No. 7 will be drilled by Enduring Resources. The well will hit 11,300 feet in the Reeves, DW Survey, A-690. It may also be drilled in the Minden (Cotton Valley Consolidated) Field or a wildcat field.
Anadarko E&P will drill the Maddox Estate Gas Unit Well No. 6 in the Oak Hill (Cotton Valley) Field. It is 2.5 miles northwest of Henderson in the Landers, L Survey, A-479 and will hit 12,000 feet.
The J.O. Poovey Well No. 1 will be drilled by EnerVest Operating in a wildcat field. The well is 3.4 miles northeast of Minden in the Dewitt Lyons Survey, A-506 and will hit 12,000 feet. This well may also be drilled in the Brachfield, Southeast (Cotton Valley) Field or the Minden (Travis Peak Consolidated) Field.
The Oak Hill (Cotton Valley) Field will see the Cherokee Water Company Unit Well No. 10 drilled by NEG Operating. This well is 7.3 miles southeast of Lakeport in the Walling, J Survey, A-42 and will hit 12,000 feet.
Shelby County
Hunt Petroleum will drill the B.P. Hill G.U. Well No. 1H to 7,345 feet 2.2 miles southeast of Neuville in the Huxley (6100) Field and is in the Alcorn, L Survey, A-981.
Smith County
The Winona (Paluxy A) Field will see the Lena Long Well No. 1 drilled by Griffin Operating Inc. The well will hit 8,100 feet in the Brown, MT Survey, A-155. This well is 3.2 miles northwest of Winona and may also be drilled in the Winona (Paluxy B) Field.
COMPLETIONS
Cherokee County
On a 26/64-inch choke, the McKinney Well No. 1 potentialed 150,000 cubic feet of gas per day. This well is 4.6 miles northwest of New Summerfield. J-W Operating has completed the well to a depth of 12,475 feet with production in the Cotton Valley formation.
The Pettit Well No. 1 is 12.1 miles southeast of Rusk in the Reklaw Field. This well hit 11,426 feet drilled by Neumin Production Co. On a 14/64-inch choke, the well potentialed 1.504 million cubic feet of gas per day. Production is in the Travis Peak formation.
XTO Energy Inc. has completed the Chronister Heirs Well No. 15 in the Doyle Creek Field. The well hit 12,300 feet and is 5.1 miles northwest of Wells. On an 18/64-inch choke, the well potentialed 1.295 million cubic feet of gas per day. Production is in the Travis Peak formation.
Freestone County
In a lease 2.1 miles southwest of Dew in the Dew Field, the William C. Glazener Gas Unit Well No. 21 has been completed by XTO Energy. This well hit 12,560 feet and potentialed 1.965 million cubic feet of gas per day on a 22/64-inch choke. Production is in the Cotton Valley Consolidated formation.
Anadarko Petroleum completed the Worthy "A" Unit Well No. 3 and the Cunningham "A" Well No. 3. The Worthy "A" Unit Well No. 3 is 2.6 miles southeast of Donie in the Bear Grass Field with a depth of 14,400 feet. This well potentialed 5.612 million cubic feet of gas per day on a 48/64-inch choke. Production is in the Cotton Valley Consolidated formation. The Cunningham "A" Well No. 3 is located 4.5 miles southeast of Lanely in the Dowdy Ranch Field with a depth of 15,350 feet. This well potentialed 13.071 million cubic feet of gas per day when gauged on a 26/64-inch choke. Production is in the Cotton Valley formation.
The Reed "P" Gas Unit No. 1 Well No. 14 is located 15 miles southeast of Groesbeck with a depth of 13,160 feet. This well was completed in the Freestone Field by XTO Energy. This well potentialed 1.047 million cubic feet of gas per day. Production is in the Cotton Valley-Bossier Consolidated formation.
XTO Energy completed the C.E. Turner Gas Unit No. 2 Well No. 3, the Ham Gas Unit Well No. 23 and the Kirsch Gas Unit Well No. 16 in the Teague Field. The No. 2 well bottoms at 11,768 feet and is located 3.2 miles southeast of Kirvin. On a 20/64-inch choke, the well potentialed 128,000 cubic feet of gas per day. The No. 23 well bottoms at 12,544 feet and is 4.2 miles southeast of Teague. On a 48/64-inch choke, the well potentialed 1.076 million cubic feet of gas per day. The No. 16 well hit 12,040 feet and is 5.2 miles northeast of Teague. When gauged on a 20/64-inch choke, the well potentialed 1.195 million cubic feet of gas per day. Production is in the Cotton Valley-Bossier Consolidated formation.
On an 11/64-inch choke, the Fails Gas Unit Well No. 17 potentialed 1.013 million cubic feet of gas per day. This well is seven miles south of Teague in the Freestone Field. XTO Energy completed the well to 13,040 feet in the Cotton Valley-Bossier Consolidated formation.
Gregg County
The Buford & Blow G.U. 3 Well No. 15 is 11.2 miles southeast of Longview in the Oak Hill Field. Anadarko E&P has completed the well to a depth of 10,575 feet. It well was gauged on an adjustable choke and potentialed 1.516 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. Production is in the Cotton Valley formation.
Harrison County
The Jennifer Stewart Gas Unit Well No. 14 is 4.5 miles southwest of Hallsville in the Oak Hill Field. EnerVest Operating completed the well to a depth of 10,800 feet. On a 24/64-inch choke, the well potentialed 1.919 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. Production is in the Cotton Valley formation.
On an adjustable choke, the Delcia Young Gas Unit "B" Well No. 5 potentialed 586,000 cubic feet of gas per day. BP America Production has completed the well to a depth of 10,425 feet in the Blocker Field. Location is 6.7 miles southwest of Marshall.
Leon County
The Bobby Ray Harris Well No. 3 is 4.6 miles northeast of Buffalo in the Red Oak Field. XTO Energy completed the well to a depth of 6,750 feet. Gauged on a 48/64-inch choke, the well flowed with 15 barrels of crude per day. Production is in the Dexter formation.
The Dot Cadenhead C Well No. 2 has been completed three miles northeast of Buffalo in the Red Oak Field. XTO Energy completed the well to depth of 6,750 feet. It was gauged on a 48/64-inch choke and flowed with 16 barrels of crude per day. Production is in the Dexter formation.
Limestone County
When gauged on a 48/64-inch choke, the Chandler Gas Unit No. 1 Well No. 8 potentialed 2.476 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. This well was completed by XTO Energy in the Farrar Field. Total depth is 13,150 feet and is 3.6 miles southwest of Donie. Production is in the Cotton Valley Lime formation.
Nacogdoches County
The Naconiche Creek Field has seen the JB Strong GU Well No. 4 and the Strong GU Well No. 11 completed by Chesapeake Operating. The No. 4 well is located 4.6 miles northeast of Appleby with a depth of 12,950 feet. Gauged on a 20/64-inch choke it potentialed 1.0 million cubic feet of gas per day. The No. 11 well is 3.4 miles northwest of Mayo with a depth of 9,215 feet. Gauged on an 18/64-inch choke it potentialed 1.251 million cubic feet of gas per day. Production is in the Rodessa-Travis Peak Consolidated formation.
Exxon Mobil Corp. completed the Trawick GU 21 Well No. 6-C in the Trawick Field. This well is 3.5 miles west of Cushing with a depth of 8,881 feet. When gauged on a 0.75-inch choke, the well potentialed 1.127 million cubic feet of gas per day. Production is in the Pettit formation.
In a lease four miles south of Cushing in the Trawick Field, the Avery Renee GU 1 Well No. 1 has been completed by Samson Lone Star. This well hit 10,281 feet and potentialed 2.888 million cubic feet of natural gas per day on a 28/64-inch choke. Production is in the Travis Peak formation.
The Lee "E-1" Gas Unit Well No. 5 and the Jones "A-1" Gas Unit Well No. 5 have been completed in the Appleby, North Field by EOG Resources. The Lee "E-1" Gas Unit Well No. 5 is 2.8 miles southwest of Garrison with a depth of 10,100 feet. Gauged on an adjustable choke it potentialed 1.041 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. The Jones "A-1" Gas Unit Well No. 5 is 3.9 miles west of Garrison with a depth of 9,980 feet. This well was gauged on an adjustable choke and potentialed 1.651 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. Production of the Lee "E-1" Gas Unit Well No. 5 is in the Travis Peak formation. Production for the Jones "A-1" Gas Unit Well No. 5 is in the Travis Peak formation and the Pettit formation.
Panola County
On a 12/64-inch choke, the C.C. Holiday "A" Unit Well No. 3 potentialed 1.177 million cubic feet. Chevron U.S.A. has completed the well to a depth of 10,000 feet in the Carthage Field, 18.3 miles east of Carthage in the Travis Peak formation.
The Long Branch Well No. 3-H has been completed by Basa Resources in the Carthage, South Field. This well is six miles of Clayton with a depth of 9,575 feet. Gauged on a 38/64-inch choke, the well potentialed 3.768 million cubic feet of gas per day in the Cotton Valley formation.
St. Mary Land & Exploration completed the Boise Southern Well No.1 in the Carthage Field. This well is 10.1 miles southeast of Carthage with a depth of 9,374 feet. When gauged on a 1-inch choke, the well potentialed 4.619 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. Production is in the Cotton Valley formation.
The Burton, Billie Jean Well No. 19 and the Davis, A.L. Well No. 24 have been completed in the Carthage Field by Devon Energy. The No.19 is located 5.4 miles southwest of Carthage with a depth of 9,635 feet and potentialed 2.609 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. The No. 24 is 4.5 miles southwest of Carthage with a depth of 9,663 feet and potentialed 2.696 million cubic feet of natural gas per day on an adjustable choke and is in the Cotton Valley formation.
Gauged on a 14/64-inch choke, the MHS-Wells Well No. 4 potentialed 1.118 million cubic feet of gas. It is 1.5 miles west of Bethany in the Bethany Field by Winchester Production and hit 7,064 feet. Production is in the Travis Peak Consolidated formation.
The Carthage Field has seen the CGU 10 Well No. 19 completed by Anadarko E&P. The well is 2.8 miles northwest of Carthage with a depth of 9,742 feet. Gauged on an adjustable choke it potentialed 1.591 million cubic feet of gas per day. Production is in the Cotton Valley formation.
Rusk County
The Kangerga Well No. 9 and the Kangerga Well No. 8 have been completed in the Minden Field by El Paso E&P. The No. 9 is located 2.6 miles southwest of Henderson with a depth of 10,920 feet. This well was gauged on a 20/64-inch choke and potentialed 899,000 cubic feet of natural gas per day. The No. 8 is located 2.8 miles southeast of Henderson with a depth of 10,948 feet. This well was gauged on a 20/64-inch choke and potentialed 1.311 million cubic feet of natural gas. Production is in the Cotton Valley Consolidated formation.
When gauged on an adjustable choke, the Kennedy, Major Well No. 13 potentialed 945,000 cubic feet of gas per day. This well is 21 miles northeast of Henderson in the Oak Hill Field. Anadarko E&P has completed the well to a depth of 10,628 feet. Production is in the Cotton Valley formation.
Enduring Resources has completed the Maxwell Gas Unit 1 Well No. 1 in the Minden, West Field. The well is 1.9 miles southwest of Minden with a depth of 11,006 feet. It potentialed 1.6 million cubic feet of gas per day on an adjustable choke. Production is in the Rodessa Hill formation. This well is also completed to commingle in the Brachfield, Southeast (Cotton Valley) Field and the Minden (Travis Peak Consolidated) Field.
Shelby County
On a 15/64-inch choke, the Ronnie Borders Well No. 1H potentialed 3.052 million cubic feet of gas per day. This well is 9.8 miles of Center with a depth of 7,102 feet. Hunt Petroleum has completed the well in the Huxley Field with production in the 6100 formation.
Upshur County
In a lease five miles north of Longview in the Glenwood Field, the Ruby Estate Gas Unit Well No. 11 has been completed by Exco Partners Operating. This well hit 11,102 feet and potentialed 253,000 cubic feet of gas per day on a 20/64-inch choke. Production is in the Cotton Valley formation.
