Ballet Tyler's 'Peter Pan' takes flight April 5

Ballet Tyler is scheduled to present its performance of Peter Pan, 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5 at the University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center, publicity officials announced.
Tickets start at $18 and may be purchased at the Cowan Center Box office, 903-566-7424 or online at www.uttyler.edu/cowan/buytickets.html.
Officials promise adults and children alike will enjoy highflying techniques, suspenseful sword fights, dancing indians and comical pirates as Captain Hook offers his whimsical antics during this "magical journey to Neverland."
Patrons may meet the dancers and characters at Peter Pan's autograph party, Adventures in Neverland, 2-4 p.m. Sunday at the Tyler Rose Garden Center.

Boys and girls can attend story time with Mark Scirto, face painting, treasure hunts and many other activities. Advanced tickets for the autograph party are $10 and may be purchased at Spin Out, Glamour Girls, Potpourri House, Snug as a Bug, and online at www.BalletTyler.org. The tickets will be $12 at the door.

A free school show of Peter Pan is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, April 4, at the University of Texas at Tyler Cowan Center, ballet officials announced.

All Tyler Independent School District third graders as well as private and homeschool students are invited.
The show will feature a 45-minute excerpt of the show and offer sword fighting, dancing and flying. There will also be a demonstration of flying equipment.

Officials ask patrons arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the program.
No reservations are required and there will be open seating in designated areas. Ushers will be in the lobby to help homeschool students to their section.
Alumni Reception
After the Cowan Center performance, Ballet Tyler will host a reception honoring former dancers, artistic directors, and members of the Board of Directors.
