Hospital To Mark Fifth Anniversary With Reception
Greg Junek
OK, you’ve heard me ask before, “Where did the time go?” Today I’m doing it again.

Can you believe five years have passed since the old Montgomery Ward store building on Roseland Boulevard was renovated to house the Texas Spine & Joint Hospital?

For months, after the store moved out, construction crews worked on the building’s interior and exterior, changing them into something far different from what they were, adapting them to function for a different purpose.

No kidding, it has been five years, and TSJH will celebrate its first five years with a Five Years, Five Stars reception, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

The community is invited to attend the reception and awards ceremony at the hospital, 1814 Roseland Blvd., during which the hospital will be presented the HealthGrades Spine Surgery Excellence Award for 2008.

TSJH is a fully equipped, 20-bed hospital dedicated to spine and orthopedic services. It opened in December 2002, and performs more than 16,000 procedures and surgeries a year with two locations.

TSJH received this top distinction in spine surgery for being ranked in the top 5 percent in the nation for spine surgery, as found in the Tenth Annual HealthGrades Hospital Quality in America Study.

HealthGrades is an independent health care ratings company that analyzes patient outcomes at nearly all of the nation’s 5,000 hospitals. Quality recognition by HealthGrades is based on an objective, detailed analysis of three years of risk-adjusted Medicare patient data in clinical outcomes. Hospitals that perform statistically better than expected for clinical outcomes receive the five-star rating.

The study also found that TSJH is five-star rated for joint replacement (2007-2008), spine surgery (2006-2008), total knee replacement (2007-2008) and back and neck surgery (2006-2008).

“Achieving the highest quality in patient satisfaction and outcomes is the primary focus of Texas Spine & Joint Hospital,” Tony Wahl, TSJH chief executive officer, said. “The physicians and staff at TSJH are honored to be recognized by HealthGrades for the five-star designations and Spine surgery Excellence Award.”

The Longview Economic Development Corp. announced it will celebrate the grand opening of ETR Heat Transfer Services, 10 a.m. Thursday. ETR is located at 100 Coolant Lane, on U.S. Highway 80 west of Silver Falls road, on the south side of the road.

ETR Heat Transfer Services is a manufacturer of heat transfer products for the energy industry. It purchased more than 23 acres and constructed a 30,000-square-foot facility. LEDCO said the company plans to double the size of the facility in the next two or three years and hire an additional 50 employees.

In June 2006, the LEDCO board voted to grant up to $176,250 over four years to assist the company with its expansion.
