Girls wearing lace dresses gathered around Rose Queen Grace Hartley Ramey's tent to get a glimpse of her in her sparkling dress at Friday's afternoon tea.
Under a light green canopy, Queen Grace sat on an elaborate wooden bench accented in greenery at the annual Queen's Tea at the Tyler Rose Garden for the 74th Texas Rose Festival.
This year's theme is "Nature's Majesty.''
Many people snapped pictures as the Queen greeted guests in her gold-trimmed dress.
Fourteen years ago, Candace Matthews of Colorado brought her then-5-year-old son to the event. This year she happened to be in town again and brought him back.

"The sun is shining, it's a beautiful day and the roses smell fabulous," she said, adding she has visited several places. "This is one of the best places ever to people watch ... it's the ultimate celebration of being a lady."
As she spoke about the event, two women from Plano, who came on a tour bus, wanted their picture taken with the backdrop of roses.
Not far away, on the neatly manicured lawn - positioned in the center of the garden - were umbrellas to shade the ladies-in-waiting. Their platforms, sitting at an angle toward the garden, faced Queen Grace.
As the queen's court took their seats in their sparkling dresses, guests watched from overhead on a completely full balcony.
Jill Han, who recently moved to Tyler from California, brought her children: Karah, 7, and Caleb, 5.
"It's quite amazing," she said, just after snapping a picture of children in the garden. "We went to the museum and saw the history. It's an elaborate event. I'm amazed at how much time, effort and detail are put into it."

When entering the tea from the Rose Garden Center, young girls and adults gathered for pictures in front of the Rose Show. A floral display showed off several colorful rose varieties arranged in sections of color. Above the roses, sat a double-deck crown structure that was filled with more pink, white red, yellow and coral roses. Butterflies were positioned above the roses, appearing to fly over the garden. Two additional butterfly structures covered in greenery sat next to the crown.
Royal attendants included trainbearers Mallory Kristine Curtis and Sarah Beth Michelle Rogers; scepter bearer Smith Perry Reynolds IV: royal attendants Elizabeth Reid Walker and Ann Caswell Ferguson; and maiden to the queen Molly Louise Berry.
