Troy Joe Pickering, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay L. Pickering of Lubbock, is a sophomore at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth where he is majoring in business. Pickering is a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and is serving as social chairman for the Pledge Class. He is a delegate for the Inter Fraternity Council and is serving on the judicial board. Pickering is a member of Campus Crusaders, Band of Brothers, Greek Impact Leader and Collegiate Entrepreneur Organization.
Pickering is a 2006 graduate of Monterey High School in Lubbock, where he served as president of the Student Body and National Youth Leadership Forum Representative, he was a member of the National Honor Society, a four-year member of the varsity football team, named All District and All South Plains, served as "Mr. Monterey" in 2006 and 2005 and was a four-year Teen of the Month. He has received the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals Commended Service Award.
Pickering received the Daughters of the American Revolution Award, the University Interscholastic League Scholar Award, and was named the Rotary Club, Outstanding Student.
He is escorting Duchess Rebecca Erin Murray.
